My Introduction to and Rediscovery of Pan Gu Shengong

 Roger Aldridge

When I was introduced to Pan Gu Shengong in November, 2002 the practice immediately felt like an old friend.   Prior to that training class I had not heard of Master Ou or PGSG.  My QiGong teacher, Frances Gander, arranged to have Master Ou present PGSG instruction at her studio in Sykesville, Maryland.   Frances told me this was going to be really good.  So, I attended the PGSG moving form training and met Master Ou.

Several things about Master Ou’s moving form training stand out in my memory:

When he gave us the “passwords” I immediately knew what he meant and how they work.  I’ve been active in International Co-Freemasonry (a Masonic order that allows men and women to work together on an equal basis) for close to 30 years.  When a member is advanced to a higher Masonic degree he or she receives a password for that degree.  Then, while the member is being prepared for the ceremony, the lodge is raised to the higher degree.  When a Masonic lodge is ceremonially opened an energy field is activated.  It is very much like turning on a switch.  Each Masonic degree has its particular energy, color, teachings, work to be applied, etc.  The purpose of a Masonic password is to assist in raising the member to the energetic level of the higher degree when he or she comes back into the lodge for the degree ceremony.  In a similar way, when I say the PGSG passwords I feel myself in a higher energy field with Qi flowing through my body.  The effect is immediate.

My logical mind sometimes asks, “Why should simply saying these words have this effect”?  My logical mind can ask the same question as to why the opening of a Masonic lodge raises everyone in the room to a higher level of vibration.  Part of the answer is when one becomes the Master of a lodge there is a special ceremony which conveys the power to perform the functions of that office.  In a similar way, when we take PGSG training a kind of initiation takes place, given by Master Ou or a certified teacher, which activates our ability to use the passwords in our PGSG practices.  In this way, a door has been opened.

The next thing that stands out in my memory about the moving form training is drawing upon the essence of the Sun & Moon and balancing them.  In a Masonic lodge the Sun & Moon are represented by two pillars.  From the very beginning of one’s Masonic life one learns about the yang-yin duality of our selves, our world, and the universe.  Progressively, one learns about the qualities of each pillar and, importantly, about balancing them in our life.

The Sun & Moon also touched a deep interest I have had for many years in the ancient civilizations of Meso-America.  Representations of the Sun-Moon duality are commonly found in the Ancient Wisdom traditions of the Americas.  This interest became a calling and 10 years ago I started training in the Temple of the Deer Wisdom School and underwent a series of Mayan Initiations.

When Master Ou taught the PGSG moving form to our class a vision came to me in which I was performing the moving form in a Mayan ceremonial center.  The experience was deeply profound and I told Master Ou about it.

I took to the PGSG moving form like a fish to water.  After a period of time, I learned the non-moving form and went on to take teacher’s training.  However, for reasons that I do not exactly remember, I drifted away from PGSG around five years ago and focused on Mayan energy practices.

Fast forward to last summer when our family was on vacation at the Outer Banks, North Carolina.  Our grandson Dyllan was sick with a high fever.  On pure instinct, I started doing the PGSG method of healing with him.  The PGSG passwords and everything immediately came to me.   After giving Dyllan one treatment he felt better.  THAT really impressed me and I took it to be a Sign!

When we returned home from vacation I reviewed my PGSG materials and started doing daily practices again.  I discovered that I was able to experience the PGSG practices in deeper ways than before.  Now, PGSG is an important part of my daily life.  It connects everything in life that has deep meaning for me.  Above all, it is an expression and an experience of universal love and compassion.  When I do the PGSG practice it feels to me that it is “from the Stars” to help humanity awaken to our higher potential.

I am so happy that I rediscovered this wonderful practice.

  • Jiri Habarta, new moving form instructor from Czech Republic, shares his comment about PanGu ShenGong and his reasons to become an instructor.

At first, I was startled by the simplicity of Pan Gu Shengong. “Is this it?,” I said to myself after the first course in Moving Form. I couldn’t believe this practice could be effective. “Ok, it is an exotic addition to my other practices,” I thought. I kept looking for The key, The substance, The principle...

The course in the Non Moving Form opened new horizons for me. I’d looked up the Chinese legend of Creation out of Pan Gu and became more perceptive to the method’s source that is deep in infinite Space...and I also began to better understand why it is practiced the way it is. I still didn’t quite grasp the function of the opening and closing statements at the beginning and the end of each practice. I thought the claims were too optimistic, basically serving to open and close the session in terms of energy.  I am still in the beginning stages of my understanding of PGSG, I have only practiced a short time - only a few years - but I am beginning to have a strong sense of the principle of inter-connectedness among one’s ethical development, the amount and quality of one’s energy, and the level of consciousness – a person’s spiritual development.

In the West we assume that the main point of PGSG is to gain a lot of energy – and we are probably mistaken. I am sure this is only partly true.

I have heard that in China they used to say: “A person with a lot of energy, wisdom and love is Buddha / A person with a lot of energy but no spiritual or ethical qualities is a Demon!!!”

If a person’s body is blocked by unreasonable behavior or mental attitudes, he simply cannot handle finer and higher kinds of energy. Furthermore, expressions of negative habits constantly weaken him. In unnecessary fights the level of his immunity is dropping as he works to re-establish a balance in his energy and health. It is therefore inefficient to deal with consequences in the form of illness but rather to focus on the causes of imbalance in attitudes and in behavior. Only then true healing is possible! Only then one can understand how and where to walk on his Path to Life! Only recently it all finally started to make sense. I finally understood that an improvement in terms of health and of the quality of life are inextricably linked to a growth in the ethical sense that is symbolically expressed in these four statements!!!

It is probably impossible to reach lasting satisfactory results without changing one’s attitude toward himself and toward others. So what better way to share one’s knowledge with other people than through PGSG? Through fulfilling the motto of PGSG, through healing, teaching, or through openly sharing the knowledge we have, as well as through leading by example, we can help others understand the true change for the better. There are still things I don’t understand very well but I am always astonished by the simplicity and efficiency of PGSG. I wonder about what I will still come to learn and experience.

I was impressed with the extremely simple form and the short learning curve of Pan Gu Shengong. Significant improvements in one’s quality of life can be achieved in just a few hours, even if one invests only a few minutes a day. That’s amazing! Practicing other self-improvement methods allows me to compare and to appreciate the beauty and efficiency of PGSG. I also like the positive effects PGSG has on the practitioner’s personality, health, inter-personal relationships or on his spiritual growth, all of which seem so important nowadays. The ease of PGSG and the fact that it demands only a small daily time commitment are great benefits for contemporary people who constantly rush around. I believe these qualities make PGSG a practice of the future - and not only for the peaceful and meditative types – it is a suitable practice for those who are very busy as well.

There is so much to say about the benefits of this method that even the question why I want to teach PGSG? itself sounds strange.

I would like to offer it to everyone who is interested so that together we could transform this complicated world into a wonderful place to live. True change can only come from within each of us, and PGSG is a great method to get there.

I am very happy I have come across PGSG and I would like to share this opportunity with others who seek.
