Improving my knowledge and health through practical experience

I am a surgeon from China , and the first time I was introduced to Qigong was a night in 1988 when I was on duty in the ER.  A patient came in who was experiencing side effects from practicing Qigong, which was when I first understood the power of Qigong.  This was also when I became very interested in Qigong.  I knew that Qigong had been considered China ’s oldest healing art.  Finally, in October of 1997, I was introduced to Pan Gu Shengong and learned the form.  It was an important turning point in my life.

After practicing the Qigong for 2 months I had not experienced anything special, until suddenly I began to notice different sensations in my body.  I began to feel warmth in the center of my palms and numbness on the soles of my feet.  I also began to shed tears and expel gas while I was practicing the form.  I also found that after the practice I felt very relaxed and uplifted, as one who enjoys different forms of physical exercise. I discovered that this simple exercise had the most beneficial effect on my health.  After I came to this conclusion, I began to practice more and more.

One afternoon my friend was sent to the ER for low blood sugar.  I decided for the first time to try to issue Qi to him.  After about 20 minutes I noticed that one of my hands was warm and the other was cold.  My friend suddenly told me he was experiencing these same sensations.  After the treatment his complexion was much better and he told me that he was also feeling a lot better.  We were both excited by the results.

As I practiced the Qigong more I continued to manifest more Qi sensations while imrpoving my health.  For example, I have had a regular bowel movement every day for more than a year.  During this time, for a period of two weeks, I strangely had a very small movement daily but felt no discomfort from it.  Once I practiced Qigong all day long and noticed that I never became hungry throughout the day.  Therefore, I consider this Qigong is also good for people who want to lose weight.  After practicing for half a year, I suddenly passed a small kidney stone which had been bothering me for some time.  From drinking water and practicing the form I was able to pass the stone with success.  After practicing for more than 5 years, I can say that my health now is very good and feel I have a lot more energy.  I have also never gotten sick since I began practicing Qigong.

Once in 1998, I issued Qi to a woman in an acupuncture clinic who was suffering from a type of skin disease which made her skin very tough.  After the acupuncturist put needles into both her hands, I began to send Qi to only her right hand.  After about 20 minutes her right hand became warmer and changed color.  We also noticed that the needles in her right hand began to vibrate and the area around the needles became red.  It was very interesting that her other hand didn’t experience any change.  Everyone present was very surprised with these results.

In 1999 I, along with a couple of Pan Gu practitioners, visited a man with lung cancer at his house.  After the small group issued Qi to the patient, I began to feel a stronger energy in the room.  Many people who were not practitioners began to feel very relaxed and sleepy but the patient felt calm and energetic.  Her complexion also became healthier as her color changed.  During this treatment, I suddenly experienced the phenomena of being able to see through my mind the exact location and shape of the cancer in her lungs.  Later, after the treatment, I decided to check this information with the patient’s medical report.  It was identical to the medical history.

Today, I can’t explain these phenomenon with the current medical knowledge that I have learned as a western trained medical doctor.  In my opinion, mankind hasn’t realized that their knowledge of the Universe is insufficient.  We shouldn’t doubt the existence of these and other phenomena based on man’s limited knowledge.

In order to try to get some answers to my many questions, I decided to do some experiments.  In one I issued Qi to a woman who suffered from hypertension.  I checked her blood pressure before and after.  Her blood pressure after the treatment was significantly lower than the normal level.  In order to see if the power of suggestion had an effect, I decided to do another experiment with mice.  As a model I used 20 mice with high blood pressure.  I divided 10 to the control group and the other 10 to be treated by issuing Qi.  After treating the second group daily with Qi we checked the model’s blood pressure.  We found that the entire control group’s blood pressure didn’t change and the treated group’s blood pressure was significantly lower than the control group, therefore we deemed the experiment a success.  The results of this simple test surprised everyone in the lab.  Even the director of the lab who at first doubted the experiment was later surprised at the results and stated that although the experiment was successful the results cannot be verified by today’s scientific means.  I understood what the director was referring to: modern science and the majority of people can only believe in what we can verify in the material world.  Can we not believe in things that have no definite shape and believe in their existence?

Take for example, when a person dies doesn’t their body’s basic material still exist the same as the moment before death?  What is the difference?  The only difference between the moment before and after death is the absence of a life force.

So, what exactly is Qigong?  What is the true nature of the Universe?  Where do humans come from?  These and other questions have existed since the beginnings of our human race and the majority of mankind cannot still answer.  Since I have been very interested in these questions, I have been searching for the true nature of the Universe.  Finally, I found the most complete answers in the Path of Life written by Master Ou Wen Wei.  I think you will also find the answers after you read it.
