Birthday Celebration Macau 2015

I was honored to be invited to attend Master Ou’s Birthday celebration in Macau this year. I always appreciate my time in Macau enjoying the wonderful food, sights and meeting with good friends.

On February 15th, the day before the Birthday celebration, Master Ou gave an Advanced Lecture about how to improve the heart and soul. Although I do not understand Cantonese from the summarized translations I was given during the breaks I did pick up on some themes from the lecture. From what I understood it is essential to have a guiding principle in your life in which you continually strive to improve the quality of your heart and soul. If you have a deeply rooted goal to become a high level person and always pay attention to your self-cultivation you will achieve good health and true happiness. If you can achieve the highest level of kindness while being tolerant and broadminded toward others that will lead to harmonious relationships and a smoother life. Although I often do not know what is being said during these lectures I always appreciate the incredible energy and know that I am learning at a deeper level, despite any language barriers, simply by being there.

Advanced Lecture

The next day the Birthday celebrations began to warm applause in a beautifully decorated hall. There were over 1000 people in the audience from Mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, America and Canada. At 9am the Macau Pangu Students Association president Maggie Pan gave a speech and shared the stories of six local students healing journeys. As Maggie called up the students one by one she read the successful details of their healing stories. Many of them had previously suffered from serious illnesses but fortunately they had achieved excellent results from their Pangu Shengong practice. After that there was a series of performances from various Pangu Shengong students. Throughout the day, I was really struck by how well everyone sung. In particular, I remember a group from Guangzhou that sang Master Ou’s song “My Ideal and My Love”. Normally when a large group of people sing together it can sound sort of monotone and detached but this year everyone was really in sync and the performances were full of emotion and energy.

After many other incredible performances Master Ou gave a short speech about the methods he used to achieve true good health. He followed that up by singing his new song “Cultivate the Heart”. This song is full of self-reflection and is meant to guide us to truly know ourselves and to broaden our hearts in a calm and peaceful manner. The translated lyrics to this remarkable song can be found by clicking here.

Before lunch was served it was time to open the champagne, perform a toast, cut the cake and sing happy birthday to Master Ou. It was a wonderful moment that the audience really enjoyed.

After a delicious lunch the performances continued in the afternoon. There were additional singing and dancing routines and I always appreciate the elegant costumes that the performers wear.

Beutiful Chinese Costumes

One special moment occurred when a group of young children performed a play in which they reenacted the Happy Spring Festival that is described in the Path of Life volume 3. The remarkable part is that a 10 year old girl named Dora had directed and produced this play. I could tell that Master Ou was very impressed with the play and joined them on stage afterwards to have a picture taken with them.

The last thing I wanted to highlight was a performance by John Paul, who happened to be on his first trip to Asia. He along with a group of students from America recited and chanted “A Poem for My Friend Wanglun” by Li Bai. Li Bai is a famous Chinese poet that lived from 701 to 762 AD. This is a famous poem about friendship written in the classical Chinese style. Despite not knowing any Cantonese, John Paul was able to learn the poem in a very short period of time and Master Ou was impressed saying that his pronunciation was 90% accurate.

At 3 PM the concert concluded with Master Ou talking about his appreciation of the performances. In fact, he said that this year the performances were the best and I tend to agree with him. I was amazed at how well everyone did and I am already looking forward to making the trip to Macau next year.
