The Brilliance of Life Consists of Being Kind and Benevolent, and Being Healthy and Happy

— Record of lecture given by Ou, Wen Wei in Xiqiao China on Sept. 6, 2005

I am very happy to see you all tonight. Do you feel happy too? (Audience: Yes!)

In this meeting room, there are more than 10 senior PGSG students who have followed me for more than 10 years. Those who have been practicing PGSG for more than 10 years please stand up to let everyone in the room to get to know you. (Applauding warmly) In the past decade, they have tried very hard to follow my instructions of being kind and benevolent, spending a lot of time on helping others, and they have successfully helped many people. I appreciate their dedication very much. There are very profound relationships between them and me. Of course, I have very deep love toward every student here, too. In the bottom of my heart, I treat you as my brothers and sisters, or as my daughters and sons.

I wish you to learn the right way to get true health, and I wish you to learn the right way to conduct yourself: being a kind and benevolent person. Only by being such a person, will your life have real meaning and value. When you are able to be such a person, you will be cheerful from the bottom of your heart. When you are able to be such a person, everyone else in the world will like you and respect you. My purpose to teach you PGSG and the way to conduct your life is to wish you to be a truly healthy and happy person, to be a person with a clear conscience, to be a person who will be accepted and respected by everyone in the world. It’s the most important meaning of “kindness and benevolence; frankness and friendliness”.

In this meeting room, most people are Chinese, others are from America, Canada, and Indonesia. For health and happiness, for understanding the principle of being a good person, we are reuniting happily today. Even though it’s hard for us to communicate with each other by using language, I believe our hearts and souls are connected with each other firmly. Are we? (Applauding warmly: Yes!)

Right now, let’s have PGSG students from America, Canada, and Indonesia introduce themselves briefly.

Master Ou (in the red T-shirt) was delivering this lecture in Xiqiao

Thomas: “I’m from Vermont in United States. A year ago I learned the moving form of PGSG from Paul Fraser, then had further training from Master Ou.”

Rod: “I learned PGSG in August 2001 from Master Ou. I was traveling to a different kind of retreat and met someone was going to Portland to see Master Ou. It sounded interesting, so I went. It was just like a magic for me to go there. Master Ou trained me as a PGSG teacher in 2002. I’m very grateful for that, because teaching PGSG is even more powerful than practicing it. It has been wonderful for me and wonderful for people whom I taught to. I also found that my healing practicing becomes stronger and stronger, and it’s helpful to people. Thank you for being such wonderful receivers. My pleasure.

Matthew: “I’m from Boston Massachusetts in the United States. I learned PGSG from my dear friend Trish 2 years ago. I first started it with Paul, later passed to Master Ou. PGSG has made such a profound difference in my life. It not only helps me through the very difficult times, but introduces me to so many good friends and brought me here today. Thank you.”

Trish: “I live in the south shore of Massachusetts. I learned the Qigong from Master Ou 5 years ago, and received my teacher training a few years ago. It’s hard to begin to say what this Qigong has done for my life. It’s so profound and so extensive. I think the best way to say it is just to say that I am not the same person I was. I know how to love the way that I’ve never been before.”

Lydia: “I was introduced to PGSG in the summer of 1999, later learned the moving form from Master Ou in the winter of 1999. I’ve been a PGSG teacher for 4 years. It has profound impact on all my family, especially my daughter and my husband.”

Cheryl: “I first learned the Qigong in 1999 from Fang Ning. I’m very grateful to meet all of you. For many years we heard many stories about you being healed by PGSG and Master Ou. It’s very important to me appreciate seeing the faces matching the stories. I very appreciate every student’s welcome here. Thank you.”

Georgia: “I’m from Portland Oregon. I learned PGSG from Master Ou in 2001 and I was in the same PGSG teacher training class with Rod from Master Ou. Pan Gu has done so much for me and the people that I work with. And I am very grateful to Master Ou. Last year I was very ill and I almost died. Master Ou came to the hospital and he helped me and now I’m here and I’m alive and well. I’m so full of love and happiness to be here. I feel like I am once again home. Thank you.”

Anisha: “I’m originally from Australia, now live in North Carolina. I first learned PGSG from my professor Paul Fraser a year ago, and got further training from Master Ou. I’m so grateful because my health has been improved and I become calmer in my life. I hope to get my teacher training soon because I really want to be able to help people. Thank you.”

Anne: “I have been doing PGSG for about 5 years. I’m from California. I would like to say it’s a wonderful Chinese community completely involved the kindness and benevolence. It has been joy to be here.”

Maya: “I live in New York, originally from Turkey. I have been doing PGSG for two and half years. Thank you.”

Robert: “Nearly 6 years ago, a friend called my wife and me said that a Qigong Master is going to teach Qigong in her house, would we be interested in coming and learning this Qigong. And I said to her: ‘Oh, we know Qigong.’ She said to me: ‘This Qigong is different, it would change your life.’ She was right. By the way, I live in Massachusetts and Florida with my wife. Every single day when I practice this Qigong I feel very thrilled and privileged. I also feel thrilled and privileged to be working on the English version of the Path of Life. I feel very thrilled and privileged to be here. Thank you.”

Jennifer: “I’m from Boston Massachusetts. I learned PGSG one year ago from my professor Paul Fraser, later got training from Master Ou. I’m very new to this and have lots questions. Thank you everyone for being so patient and kind helping me on this path.”

Paul: “I’ve been practicing PGSG since November 1999. Master Ou has been gracious enough to come to the acupuncture school where I teach in Florida. It’s the most popular guest lecture they have. I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am. Thank you.”

Jeffery: “I’m from Tennessee. I’m very happy to be here and meet all of you. I learned PGSG four years ago. About six years ago I had a diving accident. It damaged my lung. My health became no good. I’ve been getting better all the time. I can’t imagine how my life would be without PGSG. Thank you very much.”

Elizabeth: “I learned PGSG from Paul Fraser in Florida about 5 years ago, then learned from Master Ou, later became a PGSG teacher. I am from Boston Massachusetts. This Qigong has changed my life. It’s too much to say, maybe just feel it from my heart. Thank you Master Ou.”

Katharine: “Originally I came from heaven, but this life Canada. I met Master Ou this February in the Bahamas at the Yoga retreat when I was teaching Yoga. I feel very blessed to have Master Ou, and all of you now in my life.”

Zheng Xi He: “I am from Surabaya in Indonesia. It has been 10 years since PGSG was first taught in Indonesia. However, in the first 6 years, we didn’t treasure it; we tried to spread it in the last 4 years. There are PGSG practitioners in more than 10 cities in Indonesia so far. It’s exciting that the local Indonesians also practice PGSG with us, and the result they get is even greater than our Chinese-Indonesian students. It’s because they are very sincere.”

Lin Zhi Hong: “I am from Surabaya in Indonesia. It’s my pleasure to be able to learn PGSG. I also feel very grateful to Master Ou. Thank you!”

(End of the introductions.)

Two days ago when Zhen Xi He met me in Hong Kong, he told me great news. In June of this year when I was in Indonesia giving workshops, I met a botanist who suffered from breast cancer with a huge tumor. She had spent almost all her money on seeking help from medicine, but doctors told her that there was no hope for her any more. Under this situation, she learned PGSG and began to get better. When I went to Indonesia in June, she came to see me, and I gave her qi-healing and encouraged her, “The most important thing for you is to have confidence and determination; you still have the opportunity to recover.” She responded that she had confidence. Since then, she has been persistent in practicing PGSG several hours a day. Recently she went back to the hospital for a check-up because the doctors believed an operation may be successful based on her improved condition. [Before she started practicing PGSG, her tumor was as hard as iron, larger than a volley ball, and the skin covering the tumor was black. Her doctors determined that no operation was possible for her, she could only wait for death. Fortunately, since she began to practice PGSG, her tumor began to shrink, and the skin returned to its normal color, which made her doctors believe an operation was possible.] During the operation, as soon as her skin was cut open, her 10-kilogram-tumor fell out of her body by itself, to the great amazement of her doctors. Here, let’s give her congratulations and blessings for her quick recovery. (Applauding)

PGSG has brought many patients hope for new lives. Even if you are not a patient, you still have the hope for a new life because when you know how to lead your life as a truly healthy and happy person, and to be a truly kind and friendly person, your life will become more brilliant.

Being alive. It’s not just for the material comfort, but for the spiritual enjoyment too; and the latter is more important. If your life cannot reach a relatively pure and high level, even though you have great material comfort, will you really feel happy? It’s common that every person will encounter unsatisfying situations from time to time. Even if you just stay home with your family, you will still often find something annoying you. Why will this happen? It’s because the family members haven’t learned what real kindness and benevolence is, they do not know the right way to respect and love each other; instead, they always focus on their own feelings and enjoyment, wishing to take their portion of enjoyment from others. It’s the root of conflict between people. Therefore, I wish all of you to learn the right way to be concerned about others. In this way, we can live with each other very happily. When your heart and soul reach this level, it will be a lot easier for you to receive the power from Pan Gu, and the power you receive will not be consumed by your evil thoughts.

Many people, especially patients, ask me how to achieve the best result by practicing PGSG and how to conduct themselves to have a better life. Right now, I tell you clearly that the answer is to follow the passwords, “take kindness and benevolence as basis; take frankness and friendliness to heart.” To learn the right way to respect others and be concerned about others will guide you to learn the right way to keep a calm and peaceful mind.

Why can we not always keep a calm and peaceful attitude in our daily life? It’s because we have been chasing personal desires too much, such as fame, profit, and enjoyment. If you learn to live this way, once you fulfill your desires you then begin to worry about losing , which prevents your heart from ever being calm. On the contrary, if you can keep a calm and peaceful mind to handle your life, you will be able to create more wealth and fortune.

If you have sickness, you should try even harder to keep a calm and peaceful mind. How calm should you be? Don’t worry about what kind of diseases you have; don’t be anxious. When you are practicing, you should forget about the fact you are a sick person, and should not set yourself a task impatiently like “I must get rid of my illnesses in 3 months by practicing PGSG a lot.” You may set up a goal like this in your mind and contribute your great effort to it, however, you should not keep thinking about it when you are practicing the qigong. You should not focus on what kind of illnesses you have and it’s not necessary for you to imagine, “To absorb more energy and let the energy work on my diseases more efficiently.” Pan Gu Shengong can adjust and heal your health automatically. Your attitude determines if this automatic function can be maximized, which means if you are calm and happy then this automatic healing function can be maximized. The level of being happy is higher than the level of just being calm. How can you be happier? Think about it: there are many patients who have received great benefits by practicing PGSG; you should believe you will receive the same benefits. It means you have found the way and the hope of having a new life; you can master your new life through your own effort! Since you have mastered the method, shouldn’t you feel happy!

Therefore, I wish everyone, especially PGSG instructors, to remember my words. From now on, when you guide others to learn PGSG, you should introduce the principles I taught you patiently. You should not be hindered by some low level concepts! Especially for many Chinese students, please don’t always get stuck on the topic of believing or not. It’s a shallow behavior.

This superficiality shows in two aspects: the superficial heart and soul, and the superficial knowledge.

Please think about it: the universe is endless, while the knowledge we have about it is so limited. We will only exist in this world for several decades to a hundred years. Please ask yourself how old you are now. Even if you started to study as soon as you were born, how much knowledge would you have had? Can you use your small amount of knowledge to judge a brand new knowledge? So isn’t the knowledge you learned before just very superficial?

What is the superficiality of the heart and soul? In fact, when many people bring forward a topic on whether something is worthy for them to believe or not, they want to satisfy a greedy desire deep in their heart. As a patient, you yearn to master an efficient way to cure your illness as soon as possible. This kind of desire is reasonable from a superficial point of view. However, when you really get to know a brand new method that possibly will meet your desire, can you listen to the explanation calmly? Many people fail. Many of them may inquire, “You must elaborate many similar persuasive cases to me.” Why do they want to know those persuasive cases? For the satisfaction of their personal desires, and because they worry about becoming worse. Some people even inquire, “I won’t believe until you cure my illness!” Isn’t the heart and soul of such people superficial?

Of course, as a PGSG instructor, after you understand these principles, you should not just copy what I said and point out directly to those who have the problem by stating, “getting stuck on the topic of believing or not is a shallow behavior. You don’t believe just because your heart and soul are superficial.” You should not do that. Instead, you should guide them patiently and explain to them that many people have had their health restored after practicing PGSG. After they learn the practice and read my books, improving their understanding gradually by daily practice, then you can tell them the principles I talked about tonight. As a result, they will be cured faster.
